Five checks before a field change gets lost
Reference the request
Capture dated RFI, ASI, PR, field direction or instruction reference when available.
Separate approval from observation
Mark pending written direction clearly. Never imply that a field discussion is approved extra work.
Record actual impact
Enter hours actually worked and materials observed; do not call them an agreed price.
Own the next step
Assign a project manager or estimator to verify notices, scope and commercial follow-up.
